Hey everyone,
My name’s Kevin and I study music, not in school, but on my own. I organize, add, delete, and listen to every aspect of my music library. I listen and work on my understanding of the drums, bass, guitar, sax, piano, vocals, lyrics all as separate entities of the song all pulling together as one beautiful effort towards the melody and art it coming together.
You will notice a lot of bands I talk about and bring about in this blog as having prominent and unique singers that add to the connection of the rest of the bands musical abilities. I really appreciate bands that have great songwriting skills while also connecting it with a vocalist/lyricist with great awareness of the themselves and the world to create deep lyrics and bring a unique creation of a voice that sings beautifully (a jim james type) or just in their own way (a bob dylan type) to the music itself. For an example, and a band I will talk about a lot through-out my presence on this blog, I will use My Morning Jacket (with Jim James encompassing the exact definition of a beautiful and unique singer/songwriter)
I myself love to connect with the world and write lyrics about my own experiences. I am a singer/songwriter with a voice unlike the unique vocalists I admire. I have written an incredible amount of songs and have realized that my voice, instead of used for vocal melody, should be used to show others the beautifully deep music I have found, continue to find, and also to show the honest depiction of life I view as a lyricist. I love music and hope to gain band/musician/music knowledge from others who read the blogs and also hope to share, with as much as only a few people (as this won’t appeal to the mass of society as far as I’ve experienced), my knowledge and love for deep and thought-provoking music and the conscious and non-reactive approach to life that I wish to keep growing towards along my journey.
Love,
Kev
I’ll leave you with this piece of music that I find beautiful from the soothing lyrics of a promise to always be there for a loved one to the melody that is simple yet catchy and shares enough space for Jim James and his mesmerizing voice to create a satisfying listen over and over again.
