Awake My Soul

I see the consequences when I don’t sleep, I see the consequences when I spend my days distracted by TV and movies, and I see the consequences when I try to fit in with all of the people that surround me…yet…I still do all of these things.

How do I see consequences and insights in a way that feed into my actions and behaviors as I suffer to break the habits, change, and grow with the information?

Love takes suffering to understand, and using that information to nurture what I love by feeding their needs with my energy, effort, and time.

Do I show myself that I love me? Do you?

How can we ever say that we are happy or have great self-esteem if we don’t use the consequences or insights during our days to make changes to our actions and behaviors to grow? How can we say that we love ourselves if we stay right as we are?

It’s time to move with the words that life says as we take it all in. This is for ourselves. This is for our self-esteem…our happiness. Let’s fall in love with ourselves because it seems like we forgot what it takes. It’s time to move with the words that life says as we take it all in.

Awake My Soul by Mumford & Sons

“in these bodies we will live. in these bodies we will die. and where you invest your love, you invest your life. awake my soul. for you were meant to meet your maker.”

About Kevin Carlstead

I graduated as a hospitality and psychology student at University of Denver. I spent most of my teenage and young adult years in the hospitality industry. I am still searching for what industry suits my personality and talents so that I can feel more meaning throughout my days. My current career pursuit has me enrolled in a graduate program to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I love music with something to it. I love life with something to it. I have made it one of my purposes in this life to integrate both of these things that I love. This blog and my own songwriting has given me the platforms to do that very thing. Thank you for reading.
